The Great Eagle Group Announces a HK$2 Million Sponsorship for Asia Carbon Institute
Promoting Sustainable Development through an Enhanced Carbon Credit Standard for Asia

(27 September 2023, Hong Kong) – The Great Eagle Group is pleased to announce it is providing a sponsorship to Asia Carbon Institute (ACI) in the amount of HK$2 million to support the development of a voluntary carbon market in Asia.

Sustainable development is a top priority for the Great Eagle Group. In keeping with the Group’s Climate Leadership Strategy, which seeks to achieve net-zero impact by 2045, the Group is integrating sustainability into its business strategies and operations to further the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The Group also seeks to promote climate action throughout Asia and beyond. This sponsorship launches our support of ACI, an independent non-profit organisation established in 2022 that serves as a voluntary carbon credit standard organisation and registry for Asia. ACI focuses on developing and implementing climate-neutral initiatives and tailored solutions to address unique environmental challenges and opportunities across Asia.

Mr Alexander Lo, Executive Director of Great Eagle Holdings Limited, said, “This year marks our 60th anniversary. As part of the celebrations, we are delighted to continue advancing our sustainability efforts by supporting ACI as they promote robust carbon credit standards in Asia. This is an important step that provides businesses with more options to achieve net-zero goals over the long term. By setting up a transparent and credible way to certify carbon credits in the region, we will further strengthen the evolving voluntary carbon market. We believe that this will help reflect the hidden costs of carbon emissions on society and the environment. Together, we will create positive impacts to shape a more sustainable future for the next generations."

Mr John Lo, Founder of ACI, said, “We extend our gratitude to the Great Eagle Group for their generous sponsorship. Their endorsement acknowledges ACI’s aspirations to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy through the use of voluntary carbon credits. ACI believes technology-based and urban-focused greenhouse gas mitigation projects are particularly relevant to Asia. As we endeavour towards a more sustainable future, our partnership with the Great Eagle Group stands as a beacon of shared vision, for which we are deeply appreciative.”
