The Great Eagle Group is one of Hong Kong's leading property and hotel companies. Headquartered in Hong Kong, the Group develops, invests in and manages high quality office, retail, residential and hotel properties in Hong Kong, North America and Europe. Its principal holdings include a 48.7% interest (as at 30 June 2008) in Champion Real Estate Investment Trust, which owns 1.56 million square feet of Grade-A commercial office space in Citibank Plaza in the Central business district of Hong Kong as well as the office tower and shopping mall of Langham Place comprising a total floor area of 1.3 million square feet in the prime shopping district of Mongkok, Kowloon. In the United States, the Group owns three office buildings with a total floor area of more than 470,000 square feet. The Group is also active in property management and maintenance services as well as building materials trading.
The Group has an extensive hotel portfolio with over 5,000 rooms. Eight luxury hotels situated in Hong Kong, London, Boston, Pasadena, Melbourne and Auckland are branded under "Langham", "Langham Place" and "Eaton" and are managed by Langham Hotels International Limited (a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Group). It also owns the Delta Chelsea Hotel in Toronto.
The Group was founded in 1963 and The Great Eagle Company, Limited was its holding company, whose shares were listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1972. The Group underwent a re-organisation in 1990 and Great Eagle Holdings Limited, a Bermuda-registered company, became the listed holding company of the Group in place of The Great Eagle Company, Limited.
The Group had a net profit of HK$3,898 million (approximately US$500 million) in the financial year 2007 and a net asset value of HK$25 billion (approximately US$3,205 million) as of 31 December 2007. |
